Josh was born and raised in Rochester, Minnesota. He played division 1 college hockey in the CCHA as a starting defenseman with the University of Illinois – Chicago from 1995 to 1996 and the University of Nebraska-Omaha from 1997 to 2001; where he received full scholarships. Before college, Josh played in the USHL for the Waterloo Blackhawks, the Rochester Mustangs, and the Springfield Jr. Blues. As a youth hockey player, Josh was selected to compete in several state tournaments with the Minnesota Selects (4 seasons) and with Team Minnesota (2 seasons).
In addition to his fist-hand experience on the ice, Josh has spent many years working with youth hockey camps focused on skill building and agility. With his extensive background in hockey and his current experience as a personal fitness trainer, Josh has developed a training program that utilizes proven off-ice and on-ice techniques. Josh’s program targets stick handling, shooting, skating, and “seeing” the game while at the same time builds strength, endurance, and agility to enhance overall performance.
